"Peaceful protest it is a vital part of a democratic society and has a very long and respected tradition in the United Kingdom. It can be a very powerful campaign tool and many of the rights and freedoms we enjoy today were gained because people were prepared to go out on the streets and protest. Since the coming to force of the Human Rights Act we can finally say that we have a right to peaceful protest." (www.yourrights.org.uk)

Or do we? As most of you probably know this right is slowly being eaten away at by politicians with totalitarian (complete control) ideals. Starting with the ASBO (Anti Social Behavior Order) which can keep you confined to your own home without conviction! Many peaceful protests (One of our many so called 'human rights') such as an 80 year old RAF veteran John Catt who was stopped and searched because he was wearing a t-shirt with anti bush/blair slogans on it and made to sign a form saying he had been interviewed under the 2000 terrorism act! This was a breach of the right to free expression and peaceful protest, Their for this terrorism act has stripped us of some of our basic freedoms and is a breach of our human rights. Their are many examples of these breaches of our freedoms in the UK here are some key words to search for if you don't believe me!
Walter Wolfgang Labour Party - he is an 80 year old man who was taken down by some huge guys for heckling in a labour party conference hall (which used to be a common occurance and completely normal) He was then not allowed to re-enter the hall under section 44 of the terrorism act of 2000. He is not a terrorist, it was a peaceful protest!
Their are too many to list but i'm sure you can find many.

If you agree that the terrorism act of 2000 is a breach of our human rights sign this petition and repost this bulletin
